Puyallup Fair: Two Cops

On Saturday, two cops walked their Blue Line beats wearing Freedom 2000's. They returned them several hours later because of the attention. Both commented that the weight of their utility belts seemed to disappear when wearing the springy footwear.

When the recording ended, Laraine, who didn't want her picture taken, stated she cried when the Post Office sent out a memo banning Z-CoiLs because of a work related accident. She continues to wear Z-CoiLs to work and keeps a letter from her Podiatrist prescribing the pain relief footwear, just in case a manager decides to make it an issue. She also said a mid level supervisor wears her Z-CoiLs on the job, too.

Puyallup Fair: i-Step Press Release

YOUR 2 FEET ANNOUNCES SEATTLE DEBUT OF iSTEP® FOOT SCANNING SYSTEM

Seattle, (September 22, 2004) – Your 2 Feet, Seattle’s one stop shop for pain relief, has taken a big step toward providing customers with the ultimate in foot comfort by debuting the revolutionary iStep digital foot scanning system at the Puyallup Fair September. 10-26.

The iStep is a pressure analysis and orthotic diagnostic tool that provides “blueprints of your feet” and is easy for any customer to use. The simple computer system enables customers to run a 30-second gait analysis by standing and walking on a computerized pad, and receive an individualized blueprint of their feet’s pressure points with a recommendation for the correct orthotic. The interactive touch screen kiosk also measures foot length and width, and makes footwear recommendations that customers can get a personalized printout to take home.

"Our customers can now learn whether they have a high, medium or low arch and if there are pressure points on their feet while standing or walking that might be causing calluses, blisters or other pain. They’ll also discover which orthotics will help them feel completely comfortable during any activity," Dr. Lotchie Kerch, Podiatric physician, foot surgeon and owner of Your 2 Feet, says.

"We are always exploring options that will improve our ability to serve our customers. The iStep has been a great innovation in the foot health industry, and allows us to provide educational information as well as an easy way to choose exactly the right products to help treat or prevent foot pain," she says.

The iStep consists of a baropedometer containing 1024 barosensitive sensors and performs a complete mapping of the plantar pressure generated from a customer's feet. Scientific studies have shown that there is a direct cause and effect relationship between unbalanced pressure distribution during the gait cycle and lower extremity pain in areas such as the knee, ankle or foot.

After the fair, the iStep will be installed permanently at the Your2Feet Pine Street retail store 1201 Pine Street, Seattle. More Information.

Press Release: Revolutionary Pain-Relief Resource Debuts at the Puyallup Fair

Washington Podiatrist/Surgeon Bringing Z-CoiLs to Thousands of Pain Sufferers

(Puyallup, WA)— Washington residents now have a new way of walking, with people talking about a revolutionary pain-relief resource. Z-CoiL® Pain Relief Footwear™, specifically engineered to relieve foot, leg and back pain, is often called wacky, ugly or weird, but for those who suffer, pain is always uglier. Dr. Lotchie Kerch, a podiatric physician and foot surgeon for over twenty-years, has been providing Z-CoiL pain relief footwear in the Seattle area for several years and is temporarily expanding to bring this noteworthy resource to the Puyallup Fair, located in the Crafts and More Hall (Photo: Booth #952) through September 26.

Pain sufferers across western Washington are touting the benefits of Z-CoiL footwear, and Dr. Kerch has been working hard to introduce this remarkable pain-relieving resource. The footwear is becoming invaluable to people in careers that require extensive hours spent walking or standing and also to people who suffer from conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, arthritis or bone-on-bone knee issues.

Z-CoiL Footwear features a unique conical-coil steel spring under the heel, which absorbs up to 50 percent of the impact from walking or running, according to studies by Los Alamos National Laboratories and the U.S. Department of Energy. A rigid, built-in orthotic cradles the mid-foot, equalizing pressure distribution to reduce the occurrence of heel spurs or plantar fasciitis, while extra cushioning at the forefoot and a permanent flex line at the ball of the foot improve comfort in the metatarsal area. This total foot support means less impact to the body, and less impact means less pain.

Al Gallegos, a 73-year-old maverick and Z-CoiL Pain Relief Footwear inventor and company founder, persevered for years to develop this revolutionary line of footwear. These “funny-looking shoes with the spring in the heel” have dramatically changed the lives of thousands of people who report either complete relief or a significant reduction in pain when wearing Z-CoiL footwear.

“The Puyallup Fair is an excellent opportunity to introduce Z-CoiLs to more people throughout the area,” Dr. Kerch says. “We are seeing hundreds of lives changed with Z-CoiL footwear and we want to be able to help so many more.”

Dr. Kerch operates two Z-CoiL footwear locations in Seattle. Dr. Z-CoiL is located at 1764 NW 56th St. and Your 2 Feet is at 1201 Pine St. To learn more about Z-CoiL footwear visit Dr. Kerch’s Web site at http://www.your2feet.com/, call (206) 838-7338 or stop by the Z-CoiL booth at the Puyallup Fair exhibition hall through September 26.

A small company on a mission, Z-CoiL Footwear is gaining a tremendous and loyal following as word of its pain relief benefits is spreading, with 200 authorized dealers nationwide. For more information on the Z-CoiL Footwear company based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, or to find other store locations in Washington, call (800) 268-6239 or visit the corporate Web site at www.zcoil.com.

Puyallup Fair counting on cows and characters

Tribnet.com - News: "Pigs have done well in the past, but last year's crowds were kind of poky. So this year the Puyallup Fair is counting on cows to help bring up its declining attendance.

And the bovines will have support from a herd of live-action cartoon characters to attract young families to the nation's sixth-largest fair, which runs Friday through Sept. 26.

When fairgoers walk through the gate, they'll notice this year's logo on the program pamphlet - a cow hauling a giant pumpkin in a rusty pickup truck.

Although not scientific, animals featured in the fair's logo seem to correlate with attendance. Figures from the past 20 years show that pigs, featured seven times during that period, have yielded the top four crowds in fair history in 1989, 1991, 1993 and 1996."

iStep Blueprints of Your Feet : Puyallup Fair Premiere

iStep - For the Blueprints of Your Feet:In Washington State, Your2Feet will debut The iStep by Apex, a computerized pressure analysis and orthotic diagnostic kiosk, consisting of a baropedometer containing 1024 barosensitive sensors. This state-of-the-art system performs a complete mapping of the plantar pressure generated from the person’s feet in only 30 seconds.

In June of 2000, scientists completed mapping the human genome, identifying the sequence of all layers of genetic code. This enormous breakthrough will help bring to market individualized programs of preventative medicine to focus on keeping people well. By understanding the Blueprints of the Body, doctors will be able to identify potential health threats ahead of time, and pharmaceutical companies will provide more precise treatment options tailored to the individual patient. Just as you will know the Blueprints of your Body, so should you know the Blueprints of your Feet.

The introduction of computerized foot analysis systems in the early 90's brought the science of pressure and gait analysis to an exciting phase. Using this new technology, scientific studies demonstrated that there is a direct cause and effect relationship between unbalanced pressure distribution during the gait cycle and lower extremity pain in areas such as the knee, ankle, or foot.

The availability of the iStep system is significant because access to this advanced technology will be made available to all health conscious consumers. (Watch Video)

After the fair, the iStep kiosk will be installed at the Your2Feet Pine Street retail store. Stop by the booth or downtown office (after the 26th) to get an electronic blueprint of your feet!

Press Release: Puyallup Fair

Put A Spring In Your Step At The Puyallup Fair
Wacky Footwear Can Relieve Sore Aching Attendees’ Feet
At Work Or Walking 170 Acres At The Fairgrounds

SEATTLE, WA (September 7, 2004) - Dr. Lotchie Kerch, a Seattle podiatric physician and foot surgeon, and her Your2Feet retail store staff will be exhibiting at the 104th annual Fall Puyallup Fair (September 10 – 26) in the Crafts and More Hall (Booth #952) to discuss foot wellness using the stylish, springy Z-CoiL pain relief footwear product line.

At the Seattle Spring Northwest Women's Conference, Dr. Kerch delivered a presentation to the attendees. "Z-CoiL pain relief footwear is changing the way I am practicing medicine." she explained in her keynote. "Impact can now be reduced by 50 percent or more when using the Z-CoiL footwear. This impact reduction dramatically relieves pain in such conditions as plantar fasciitis (heel spars) and arthritis. I have been a practicing podiatrist for over twenty years and I have never seen anything as effective in footwear. I'm seeing people who have been living with intolerable pain relieved by this phenomenal technology."

James Hendricks from Sumner, Washington, says that his Z-CoiLs work for him on the job: "I work at a major hardware warehouse and after only two weeks couldn't work more than four-hour shifts due to foot pain. I went to doctors … with no results. Then I heard about your shoes. I bought a pair and wore them for four working days. To my amazement, the pain was gone. I'm now working 40 hours a week and loving every minute!"

Z-CoiLs, often referred to as "the funny-looking shoes with the spring in the heel," are dramatically changing the lives of people across the country that once suffered from chronic, debilitating pain in their feet, legs and back. Many of the happiest Z-CoiL customers are workers in retail stores, restaurants, fairs, trade shows, hospitals and warehouses, who must spend hours every day on their feet, often on concrete floors.

Back To School - Teacher Testimonial

I am a 51-year-old elementary physical education teacher. I have been teaching for 31 years and have to stand up and walk for lots of that time.

Having wide feet with a very high longitudinal arch and instep, it is always hard to find comfortable shoes. About 10 years ago, I developed pain on the soles of my feet in the heels. They hurt most when I took my few first steps in the morning. The podiatrist made custom orthotics for me, and my foot pain improved. However, my knees were still sore and my back hurt. (Some of this is because we did not know about safe exercise practices when I was young.)

Although I was teaching my students to jump rope, I could not do so. My jump roping was limited to 2-3 jumps per class (20-30 jumps a day). Then I would be in serious knee pain for 2-3 days afterward.

Fortunately, I happened to have Z-CoiLs recommended to me by an acquaintance.

As soon as I tried them on and stood up, my lower back felt as if the strain was relieved. It felt as if my back flattened. I can jump rope 8-10 times with each class and feel no knee pain. I walk more because it hurts less! I wish I could avoid the orthotics altogether, but I still insert them into my Freedom 2000's and my new Zuego clogs.

Thanks for inventing something so wonderful. My students want me to jump high when I wear my shoes and are disappointed when I have to admit the shoes only (!) absorb shock.

Now, I just feel really bad telling my students that there are no Z-CoiLs for kids!

Today's Back-To-School Shoes Can Lead to Tomorrow's Foot Problems

Today's Back-To-School Shoes Can Lead to Tomorrow's Foot ProblemsROSEMONT, Ill., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Kids are more concerned with fashion these days than comfort. According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, it is important this school year that parents buy their children properly fitting and supportive shoes, which offer both protection and comfort. While trendy new styles of shoes often include less support and higher heels and soles, parents must first look for durable construction and good fit.
Foot comfort is essential to maintaining stability, mobility and safety. More than 43 million people in the United States have foot problems. Often these problems begin with ill-fitting shoes in childhood. Improperly fitting shoes can cause bunions, corns, calluses, hammertoes and other disabling foot problems.

"If shoes do not fit your child properly or are not comfortable, do not buy them," stated Stuart L. Weinstein, MD, a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon, and first vice president, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. "Shoes should conform to the shape of the feet with plenty of room for the toes to move, and fit well in the heel. Your child's foot should never be forced to conform to the shape of a shoe."

Dr. Weinstein also stated that, "shoes seldom correct a child's foot deformity or changes in foot growth pattern, so if you notice a problem, it is important to have an orthopaedic surgeon examine your child's feet immediately."

Internet users can find additional safety tips and injury prevention information on footwear and more, in the Prevent Injuries America!® Program section of the Academy's web site, http://www.aaos.org or http://www.orthoinfo.org or call the Academy's Public Service line at 800-824- BONES.

A Step Above Footwear, LLC: Dr. Linzner's view on plantar fascitis

A Step Above Footwear, LLC: "Ask Dr. Linzner

Docter Erwin Linzner has managed a chiropractic practice since 1994 in Rohnert Park, California. He uses manual manipulation, soft tissue manipulation and rehabilitation for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. He believes that wellness comes from healthful living, which includes proper nutrition, exercise, and sleep. These are the primary factors that prevent disease, but also need to be addressed in healing from any condition.

Plantar Fascitis

Plantar fascitis is condition of chronic inflammation in the fascia of the feet, hence the name. Symptoms include foot pain aggravated by walking or running. Also there generally is more stiffness and pain in the morning. Causes or aggravating factors are as follows: being overweight, avid runners, having reduced dorsiflexion in the foot, and wearing inappropriate footwear.

Let me first talk about the reduced dorsiflexion in the foot. Studies have shown that people that do not have good ability to move the hinge joint of the ankle have a higher probablity of plantar fascitis. This makes sense to me. Since the foot really acts as a shock absorber, and you cannot go through a normal range of motion, that force now has to be absorbed by your plantar fascia instead. This leads to chonic injury of that tissue, and seems to be very difficult to heal. Aggravating factor which multiply this force of impact of couse are running and being overweight. This seems logical. Good footwear should help you absorb that force, while also giving you good arch support."

Press Release: Wacky Footwear Brings Welcome Relief to Sore Feet

(Albuquerque, New Mexico)-Your feet take tremendous abuse. The impact of walking can deliver a force that is two to three times your body weight, and three to five times your body weight when running! No wonder the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMS) has declared April to be Foot Health Awareness Month, to focus attention on this often-neglected, yet hardworking part of the body.

Dr. Lotchie Kerch, a podiatrist in the Seattle area, recently gave a talk to thousands of women at the Northwest Women's Conference in Seattle. She says " Z-CoiL pain relief footwear is changing the way I am practicing medicine. Impact can now be reduced by 50 percent or more when using the Z-CoiL footwear. This impact reduction dramatically relieves pain in such conditions as plantar fasciitis and arthritis. I have been a practicing podiatrist for over twenty years and I have never seen anything as effective in footwear. I'm seeing people who have been living with intolerable pain relieved by this phenomenal technology."

Yet for the millions of people in this country who suffer from many different types of foot pain, from heel spurs, to plantar fasciitis, to arthritis, finding relief from pain may be as simple as finding the right footwear. Al Gallegos, a 73 year old maverick in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has persevered for years to develop a revolutionary line of footwear that now offers a radical alternative for foot, leg and back pain relief. These "funny-looking shoes with the steel spring in the heel" have dramatically changed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people who report either complete relief or a significant reduction in pain when wearing their Z-CoiLs.

"Z-CoiL Footwear has literally changed my life," declares Claudia McIntosh, a nurse. "I suffered from severe foot pain from years of hard hospital floors and extremely long hours. The Z-CoiLs have taken all of my pain away and I have tons more energy on a daily basis. I have made such a stir in the hospital where I work that over half of the nursing staff now use Z-CoiLs."

KCTS Currents 2000: The Puyallup Fair A Historical Perspective - Timeline/Video

KCTS Currents 2000: Puyallup Fair In 2000, the Puyallup Fair celebrated its 100-year anniversary. KCTS, the Seattle Public Television Station, produced a 9-minute video and published a time line on the annual event that is available on their web site. (Click Title)

The Puyallup Fair was started back in 1900 by a few farmers and folks from Puyallup Valley. They thought Puyallup would be a good place to put on a fair because of its close proximity to both Seattle and Tacoma. The Fair founders intended the fair to advance the interests of the agriculture, horticulture, dairy, stock raising, mining, and manufacturing industries in the Puyallup Valley. All 1,800 of Puyallup's residents visited the Fairgrounds that first year. Since then, the Puyallup Fair has grown and changed alot over the past 100 years, but the heart of the fair remains the same.

This year for over 1.1 million guests are expected to attend the 17-day Puyallup Fair, Sept. 10-26.

The Puyallup Fair is one of the top ten attended fairs in the world and the sixth largest fair in North America.

Your2Feet will be one of 121 exhibitors located in the new 23,000 square foot Exhibition Center.
