IMPROVING YOUR OFFICE VISIT
You will be provided with explanations to your inquiries; a treatment plan to fit your needs will be outlined thoroughly; be assured you will receive quality care here. Dr. Kerch is a caring podiatrist invested in obtaining ideal results to resolve any foot and ankle issues you have.
Here are some ideas to make the most of your scheduled office visit. We hope they will to assist you in achieving a beneficial outcome.

Before
you are seen:
- Make a list of the main issues you want to discuss.
- When did you first notice any issues?
- Where does it hurt?
- What are you doing when it hurts? Such as does it hurt only when you are walking?
- Do you know why the pain started, such as an on the job injury?
- Are there things you have found that make you feel better?
- Do you know what makes you hurt more?
- Make a list of questions for Dr. Kerch.
- What outcome are you looking for from your visit with Dr. Kerch?
- What you have learned about your condition from other sources.
- Bring results of any tests or x-rays you have had and the results.
- Bring a list of all drugs you are taking including prescription and over-the-counter medications, herbal products, nutritional supplements, and recreational drugs. (Make a list or put your drugs in a paper bag and bring to the office.)
During
your visit discuss:
- The lists you made before your visit.
- What you think the problem is?
- What concerns you most?
- Discuss any health conditions you have with Dr. Kerch, such as diabetes or circulation problems.
- Any allergies you may have.
- Answer Dr. Kerch's questions to the best of your ability. It's OK if you do not know the answer.
- Ask the list of questions you made before your visit. (There
are no “stupid” questions, please ask about anything you do not understand
or would like to know more about.) Such as:
- Do I need to tell my other
doctors about this visit and care?
- Are there other options for
treatment? What’s good and bad about each option?
- How long will it take to get
better or heal?
- What medications do I need?
- If you don’t understand Dr. Kerch's instructions or explanations don’t be afraid to ask for
clarification.
- Tell Dr. Kerch if you can’t
follow the treatment plan he/she suggests. For example, if the plan of
treatment interferes with your work schedule or family obligations.
Together you may be able to work out a plan that you will be able to
follow.
- If you are considering
surgery, ask the doctor to explain the procedure, the benefits, the risks,
the costs, alternatives to surgery, and what to do after the surgery.
