Dr. Kerch's Mission Statement

Dear patients and patrons,

National Geographic featured an article when I was ten years old that inspired me to write my goals. The article featured a thirty year old man who had journaled his goals when he was ten years old. From that point he set out to meet his lifetime goals. He led a life filled with adventures and accomplishments. His caveat was to really challenge your imagination when you set your goals.
As a ten year old I journaled my goals of becoming a foot doctor (podiatrist), of traveling to all seven continents, and more. I saw a commercial on television when I was a child that advertised the importance of foot care for diabetics. “Why do diabetics with high blood sugar need foot care?” My curiosity led me to choose podiatry as a profession. My life long goal as a podiatrist is to help diabetics and anyone suffering from foot/ankle problems.
I was born in Florida. Moving to Chicago for medical school, then later to Seattle, required a period of adjustment. From a couple of classmates in medical school I was drawn to Seattle after hearing of the incredible lifestyle opportunities offered in the Northwest.
After medical school and upon completion of my surgical residency in Chicago in 1981, I began my Seattle private solo practice in Ballard. In 1990, I purchased a second clinic in the Medical Dental Clinic from the widow of the beloved Dr. Uno. It has been an honor partnering with the community of Seattle in relieving foot pain for over 30 years.
In the summer of 2002 I was introduced to the Z-CoiL® pain relief footwear. After hearing the shoes could help relieve foot, leg and back pain, I decided to do a trial study including myself and a few patients wearing the shoes. The results of this trial were surprising. I obtained lower back pain relief very soon after wearing the shoes. The trial with patients having heel pain was positive since they related heel pain relief. These results convinced me to open a pain relief center and set a new course for me, my practice, and for my patients. My patients and I obtained substantial relief of pain in areas where other treatments had not worked. Today other podiatrists refer patients with plantar fasciitis/heel pain to "Your 2 Feet" to buy the Z-CoiL® pain relief footwear.
I combined "Your 2 Feet", as a pain relief center, with my clinic in November, 2003 at 1201 Pine St. after I transferred my Medical Dental practice to Capital Hill. In 2007, following an accident requiring me to have a major knee reconstruction, I sold my Ballard practice and did rehab while traveling around Southeast Asia. Now I include a daily exercise regimen to keep my leg strength.
I felt allowing a first hand experience with a diversity of great wellness products designed for pain relief and healing assistance would better serve my patients and the greater Seattle community. Due to research my pain relief center offers five different orthotics/arch supports, a diversity of therapeutic shoe lines, and so much more. My mission is to combine my clinic, offering quality foot care, with a pain relief center offering a diverse choice of over the counter products.
No appointment is necessary to obtain expert advice on "Your 2 Feet" product lines. This expert advice is offered for you to make an educated decision of which over-the-counter product would be most beneficial. This year 2012 will be our ninth anniversary in Capital Hill. The inventor of the Z-CoiL® pain relief footwear (with an impact reducing spring), Alvero Gallegos, has come to Seattle on a couple of occasions to celebrate our anniversaries.
An appointment is recommended (206-786-0064) to have a personal consultation with me. I am Board Certified with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery specializing in the complete care of the foot and ankle; whether that is fabricating custom orthotics; conservative measures; minor office ingrown nail surgical techniques or more involved surgical and medical procedures requiring hospitalization. My goal is to partner with my patients to determine the best treatment regimen to attain pain relief and to be your advocate during your recovery and healing.
I am committed to ongoing medical education to keep pace with state of the art procedures and treatment protocols. My efforts are to provide podiatric care in a personal and professional environment. In keeping with that goal, I welcome your comments at any time.
Common conditions treated include ingrown nails, plantar fasciitis, heel pain, athletes foot, warts, custom orthotics, ankle sprains, injuries on the job, surgery, diabetic foot care and participating in the Medicare diabetic shoe program.
I am a staff member and have podiatric surgery privileges at Swedish Hospital since 1986. Currently the Swedish First Hill Campus is where I perform hospital surgeries. The Swedish Cherry Hill Campus is where I have most diagnostic studies performed.
My ten year old journal goal of traveling the world ignited my passion for traveling to all the continents of our planet. In 1997, I had the opportunity to visit the seventh continent (Antarctica). Nowadays I return to the continents I've previously visited in order to explore them more extensively. This fall I visited Egypt during a period of respite from the Arab Spring unrest. Our small traveling group became enthralled with the history and mystery of present and ancient Egypt.
The first hand travel experiences I've had fuel my quest for knowledge about the diverse people and cultures of our world. Architecture, history, wildlife, scenery, mountains, valleys, oceans, unique foods, exotic people, ancient tombs and more tell the story of the bounty and abundance of our world. We are truly blessed by the many sites and wonders on our planet Earth.
I am an avid scuba diver and have dived in the world's oceans. I have witnessed that underwater experiences can be as exciting as those on land. Sharing, with those interested, stories of my many exotic experiences on this great planet, above and below the water, is a joy.
More of my past time pursuits include hiking, gardening, snowboarding, reading, photography and surfing. I visit my family in various states: my sisters and parents remain in Florida; my brother and his family reside in Pennsylvania; my son David lives in Phoenix is working at General Dynamics following his graduation from ASU a few years ago.
I enjoy mentoring the high school aged students at St John's Catholic Church in Greenwood. Ryan and I currently reside in Greenlake.
I look forward to partnering with you in your pain relief.

Yours in Health,

Lotchie M. Kerch, DPM
